Reward for Diligence-A Case of David

Diligence carries great reward. If in doubt, check out David.

We often strive and struggle to be with the right crowd. We desire to be visible, so we don’t miss out on trends. We seek to be noticed in order to get appointments and mentions. Quite often we fall into regrettable conducts.

Some of us take pride in the connections we have, so we find ourselves trapped in many activities, just so people see us.

The Bible says “seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” Proverbs 22:29 David’s diligence enabled him to stand before the King. This was something his preferred brothers could not do where it mattered most.

David focused on his assignment. He stayed in the bush to tend to his father’s sheep. He wasn’t bothered that he was out there all alone. It was in his line of duty (diligence) that he heard Goliath tormenting the Israelites. Based on his experience and victories, while out there alone with the sheep, he developed self-confidence. He was therefore able to challenge Goliath and bring deliverance to his people. Of course, when God needed a replacement for the king, He sought him out, right there in the bush.

My learning point from this is that I don’t have to be in the forefront of any mass movement. I do not have to be part of any crowd nor hang around any leader, except I have a service to render. My diligence at carrying out my assignments will showcase me. The nature of the assignment is not as important as the attention I pay in carrying it out.

Remember that when you are faithful with little things, you will also be faithful with much. Luke 16:10
