Communication Between Friends

Often times I wonder at the role of communication between people; moreso when they are professed friends.

Communication here means telling each other what your views on matters are.

Jesus, our Example always talked with His disciples (friends). He rebuked them, counseled them. When He perceived they had doubts, He reassured them. He was point blank and often upfront. “Who do people say I am?” “Who do you say I am?” To Peter He said “Get thee behind me Satan!” And later He said “You are Peter the Rock. On you I shall build My Church”. When He was burdened by His impending death, He called Peter & 2 others to pray with Him. When He found them sleeping instead of praying, He spoke up rather than keep the thoughts (His disappointment) to Himself.

Why then do we shy away from telling our friends how we feel; when they may be wrong? When we don’t understand them? And when they are right too?

We don’t want to be vulnerable some say, but I believe our strength shows forth in our vulnerability.

In front of our friends we are all nice but behind it’s a different talk. Maybe like…I almost said a friend, someone said…they may really not be friends. But is that true?

I believe society would be better when we engage in open and sincere conversations.

If it’s worth doing, then it’s worth doing well!
