Inspiration called Macron
I get my inspiration to share thoughts based on happenings around me and this morning, the news that President Emmanuel Macron of France was an intern in Nigeria š³š¬ in the early 2000s struck me!
Many thoughts and questions started as usual running šš¾āāļø through my mind.
18years to move from being an intern in a developing country to becoming the President of a developed country? We could say he was with the French Embassy so perhaps he wasn’t in Nigeria per se, and I would say we may just be looking to wish away the growth that happened.
What were his thoughts working in Nigeria? What was his indulgence; not just in Nigeria? What were his interests? How did he spend his time? What were his challenges and how did he overcome them?
Early 2000s means max max 18years ago and he is about 40years now…so he was 22years max then.
You know like failure, success is very personal. You canāt will it away or wish it upon yourself and no two stories are ever the same, but I believe that the reason we are interested in the stories of others is so we could learn our own lessons. As a saying goes āthere is no need repeating history. Just learn from the existing ones.ā
I donāt have any of the answers yet but Iām positive he didnāt spend his time complaining and lamenting and badmouthing people and institutions. I believe he spent time to identify his destination, made necessary enquiries and alignments. He understood what works and donāt work and he was positive and confident! His presidency didnāt just happen.
I remember we have the “Not too Young to Run” bill recently signed. Have we keyed into the opportunities?
My dear, success has many friends and followers. Iām one of them. I draw a lot of inspiration thinking of successful people and hearing their stories. Or is becoming the President of France at less than 40years not enough Inspiration?
Not everyone can be a President but we sure can be successful. It is never too late though to be an inspiration. We could start now!
Thought provoking o!But wondering how we can have an election free of rigging.
I understand your concern but it should not freeze us. The journey of a 1000 miles starts with a single step. We need to keep at it stay resilient and success would smile on us.
We can achieve an election thatās rig free but it requires conscious efforts of developing systems and putting structures in place to achieve that. Putting such solutions in place is also an act of inspiration worth pursuing.
Itās never late to start, irrespective of situations and where we find ourselves …
I agree. Thatās the spirit.
Your observations are quiet apt and instructive. I have been wondering how the present situation in our country could create a space for an under 40 – with fresh ideas and energy, to such position; especially, when it appears that recycling of “deadwood” leaders (OBJ & GMB) seem more attractive to the electorates. Could you imagine a Jimmy Carter or Margaret Thatcher(RIP) being returned as President and PM for USA and Great Britain respectively, in the 21st century? One needs not searching for answers to most challenges we face in our country with these repeated absurdity.
The “Not-too-young” act/law could have been a veritable tool to getting a _Macron_ of Nigerian extraction in 2019, had the present administration improved on some of the electoral system it inherited from the immediate past administration. From quasi-electronic voting which PVC provided to a fully electronic voting system (from Political parties to general elections) that would incidentally reflect the wishes of the electorate, with minimal subversion or manipulation. This will also minimise the inherent _war-like_ electioneering processes we always witness/experience, and guarantee some level of safety and security of individuals/lives and properties. With full electronic voting system, we can have more responsible fellows in the helm of affairs – perhaps the _Macrons_, while most of those in places of authority who has dragged us down as a country/state will be sieved out.
Whatever inspires us should direct our thoughts and actions; just as the under 40 – _Macron_ moved from an intern to become a president within 15 years. We can stand bold today to speak truth to the establishment and act towards dismantling those barriers that deny us _Macron-feat_.
Many thanks Samuel. I think I understand where you are coming from but correct me if Iām wrong.
This conversation is not strictly about politics but personal development. So Macron aspired and worked within his known SWOT to arrive at where he is today.
Roll back to Nigeria, have we considered what our challenges are and sit with serious minded persons to break it down and begin to tackle bit by bit?
Miracles still happen I know but I also hear that when opportunity meets preparedness, success is the result. One thing is for us to agitate that the youths want to be in charge another is for these youths to be ready to be in charge.
And again, President Macron is an inspiration to the extent that one can get to the peak within a set time & it would be fantastic to hear his story. Iām positive he didnāt get there on a platter of gold. He overcame obstacles and scaled walls to arrive where he is.
We donāt know much about the masterminds behind the serial blood spill, kindnapping etc but is it not the youths that execute them?
Donāt you think with the numerical strength of the Nigerian youth and their level of exposure and experience…they can start constructive conversations and alliances? It doesnāt have to happen overnight nor on the pages of social media?
