Leadership

Nigeria WorkForce

Often we fail to acknowledge the efforts of the silent but diligent workforce amongst us and the fact that things are turning around for the better in our country. The Ministry aka Civil Service in Nigeria from experience is one of the most frustrating places you would want to visit on a good day.

The following conversation reconfirms that our workforce is beginning to shape up…

Me: How your waka? Welcome back. My brother’s matter has been sorted though.

Him: Was it in the ministry as you thought? Or at the embassy?

Me: They actually replied on their own and scanned it to him. Interior. Then called him to know if he has received it and that he should send someone to pick up the original. We’ve asked someone to go and pick it up

Him: Hmm that’s shocking o. They actually work?

Me: Buhari is working. 😎

Him: I am so impressed

Me: Me too. I was surprised. First when he got the letter, he said it was so well written but he thought it was the person he sent. Only for the lady that wrote the letter to call and follow up.

Him: Unfortunately the Govt and the people don’t celebrate the successes of this govt enough. The narrative is focused on economy and herdsmen

Him: Sola renewed her passport in UK under 30 mins. No bribe, no man know man

Me: An idea just crossed my mind…I’d share this experience on my blog!

Come to think of it, when I sent someone initially to submit the request, they told him they had received an earlier request and showed proof that it had already gone out for processing! Doubting Osila, I failed to notice the good signal of a system working

We need to consciously celebrate our own…the little efforts here and there add up and before we know it, even the obvious huge challenges, we shall overcome too in no far distance

You know we had been to same office about a year ago, and to get the document out no be today! When it eventually came out, we were wondering why it took so long plus the to & fro  But now a very articulate letter was released without a single follow up  As I no too sure it’s for real, my contact I asked to go pick up the letter today called me back just before I published this post (he knows nothing about this post), so I said to myself great! They are asking for incentive, that’s why he was calling. Let me even discard the thought of my proposed share before I share a lie. So How far? I asked  He said he just wanted to inform me that he has collected it  For real? That’s cool indeed

Thumbs up 👍🏾 for our country Nigeria 🇳🇬 and its leadership as well as the resilient workforce, citizens and residents!

I think in large part, the need for effective processes that underpin service delivery remains a gap in our civil service and govt agencies. Reducing the levels of process failure and inefficiency has never been the focus of govt, inspite of these being the pillars on which govt operations are hoisted
