Personal Growth

Setting Personal Goals

Setting personal goals is a critical path for each and everyone of us. It enables us live with a sense of purpose. Personal goals don’t have to be anything elaborate. I want to be more available to be family. I want to a friend indeed. So I would increase the frequency with which I check out on them. I would reduce my level of impatience. I would be more available…sounds loose right? Its a guideline and we build up from there.

People have said, and I agree with them that one of the ways of improving in any aspect of our life is through periodic and sincere assessment of our status as at the time of review against a predetermined goal. It there4 follows that as a starter, we should have an idea of where we are headed. Like Brian Tracy suggests, we could step up our goal setting skills by rewriting our goals every day and by so doing keep the goals fresh and in focus.

However, do you feel lost and cannot with certainty state your destination, as in your set goal? No worries. No be only you. Its a situation I & a lot of others are well acquainted with. In such situations, I follow my instinct; some call it intuition, leading…whatever. I consider what is most significant on my mind at the point in time and tackle it. That clears my path and allows me move on to the next big thing and big is relative…just be true to yourself and don’t be laid back. With focus and determination, we would look back and realise we have indeed been on a worthwhile journey and our goal is ever before us.

Our final destination, which is our set goal, is a build up of events – step by step, precept upon precept like the Bible says.

With God as our Helper and focus on our path, we shall get there!
