Much Ado about multitasking

Multitasking- what readily comes to mind is that superwoman that can get various unrelated tasks completed; all at once!

I got thinking about it some more as I consider how poor quality of service has become. Closely related to this is that employees are not as committed as they used to.

What then could be responsible for this trend? Employees have developed a phobia for tomorrow as employers cannot exactly be trusted.

The talk about town now is the need for at least a plan B. The result is that employees are no longer focused on their jobs as they are either attending to their side hustle or thinking of how to start one.

As smart as it may appear, the lack of focus has more far-reaching damage on the overall system. Some of these are lack of trust, focus, professional development. These negative traits also has a carryover effect; as you need a staff for your side hustle who also has a side hustle!

With these negative tendencies, the focus shifts from the customer and intended service to self preservation. The result therefrom are service qualities that are way below par.

So the more I think about it, the more convinced I am that multitasking isn’t a virtue. We should rather be focused.

This call is to both employers of labor and employees. Both need each other to excel. Remember that whatsoever you sow you reap. Also remember to treat others as you would wish to be treated.

I would be glad to read your thoughts on this subject.
