Aspects to Respect

Hiya! I hope you are winning in the issues of life?

Let me share with you today on my take on the issue of Respect.

According to Google, Respect means “due regard for the feelings, wishes, or rights of others.” It also defined it as “a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.

I believe that Respect is a function of the person of the respecter and my primary focus is on one giving due regard for the feelings, wishes or rights of others. So what do I mean by that?

If I’m respectful as a person it’s natural that I respect everyone I come in contact with…even when the person to be respected appears difficult and “not worthy of respect.” Where it becomes almost impossible to stay respectful due to the prevailing circumstances the respectful person does everything to get out of that environment and avoid an unpleasant scene (that does not tie with his person). That’s the aspect that addresses the respecter.

The other aspect derives from the person being respected…Where the person conducts herself in a manner that exudes or commands respect through acts and conducts considered laudable. Abeg to fear someone is not the same as respect. Respect is a choice made by the respecter and it’s a healthy feeling while fear is induced and unhealthy.

Respect is not eye service or praise singing. It is an appreciation of the qualities, conducts and capabilities of the object of respect. It derives from the ability to identify with the positive traits inherent in a person and/or system. After all we are all created by God and He deemed His creation good.

A critical review therefore shows that respect is keenly dependant on the giver and like we’ve heard severally, you can’t give what you don’t have. How much respect do we have for ourselves? How confident are we that would restrain us from feeling intimidated and compelled to disrespect others in an attempt to feed our insecurity?

In summary, I would deduce that show me a person that respects people and I’m seeing someone that is respectful and a disrespectful person is the same narrative.

Out of the treasures of our heart proceeds sweet or bitter…Bible

We are there4 not disrespectful or respectful because of the recipient but rather it’s a show of who we are.

So next time, perhaps we would just take a second to check our action and reaction and endeavour to speak the truth to ourselves as to who we really are.

Kind regards,

Giving or showing respect to others also means we love them.Bible tells us to love one another. It pays to be respectful and to remain so.

  2. You really make it seem so easy with your presentation butI find this topic to be actually something which I think Iwould never understand. It seems too complex and very broad for me.I am looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hangof it!
