We Are Better Than This

The social media is filled with so much depressing narratives, but deep down I believe we are much better than we have chosen to paint ourselves.

I will share below a bit of my recent conversation a colleague:

“You know I worked for Government before. I believe in life that people should speak based on what they know not conjectures. So I can only speak for myself.

You need to know how many fights I had with my staff over their illegal activities. And that’s part of why some (doesn’t bother me though) didn’t like me being there.

The average person outside thinks it’s their Oga that’s sending them.

So I’m very careful speaking from one angle. Yes, express your reservations but don’t make sweeping allegations.”

“The clean ones are far in between.

I really don’t intend to make sweeping allegations.

I am sorry if I came across like that. It is not intentional.

🙏🏾”

“Nay. I know it’s not intentional.

You know why the good have remained insignificant? It’s because we would rather celebrate the bad and look down on the good.

We are so okay having reasons to groan so all we do is project the bad. No support for the good.

In fact the bad has become the god of some people. Laughter… I refuse to include myself here.

See what you dwell on is very important.

Sir, leave am o. Wetin I sabi sef?”

There are always many sides to a story or situation. We need to be more patient, engage more. That way, we would avoid the trap of generalisation, which often leads to wrong and regrettable actions.

Make we celebrate ourselves small; and project the good things happening amongst us. It would ignite others and bit by bit, we shall light up our world.
