Politicians & their Gimmicks

Hello dear, today I would like to share my views on our politicians and their activities.

I’ve always found the activities of politicians particularly in Nigeria interesting. Maybe it’s because I don’t understand them but one thing I know for sure is that they are bold and quite daring! It’s also difficult for me to believe that people seek and get elected then choose to do nothing positive and tangible for their constituency. E go be say na where their power fit carry them reach naim we dey see so. 🤷🏾‍♀️If we are not satisfied then rather than grumble and curse, let’s clear our thought, keep calm and put our heads together to get persons we are positive have what it takes to perform better. We can’t think straight when we allow bitterness take an upper seat in our thoughts.

As we fast approach the 2019 General Elections, it’s become quite interesting the way our politicians are making moves to ensure they’ve got their hands in the pie – our commonwealth! We have the diehards as well as the newcomers. We have those taking the lead and those lamenting. Almost everyone sees the predicament we are facing (economic downturn, unemployment, insecurity, massive killings, distrust, poverty…you name it) as their marketing tools and basis on which they’d climb to power.

We’ve seen the massive crosscarpeting taking place among the major political parties and you are asking…”why naau?” Again it appears it’s not exactly about the people but personal pursuits. E tire me! I no fit shout

I’ve heard people condemn or praise specific parties depending on which side of the divide they belong to. I don’t believe that we have issues with political parties. If we get the right people, all others will fall in line  Personally I don’t believe we are matured politically so I don’t do or talk Party. I’m more interested in the person and yes, the mind’s construction is not written on the face and we can’t tell with certainty future input/outcome…Be that as it may, winning an election requires numbers and the numbers need to be coordinated. So setting up a new political party in order to become the President in my opinion is not an inspiring move. Whoever desires such an office should by now be known within the political circles and warm his/her way into the hearts of the people through their party. It just doesn’t sound right that people are creating vehicles so to manage our commonwealth without displaying that they have what it takes to work within a system and convince the people that they have what it takes to lead. We shouldn’t encourage that. In the same vain shopping around for the political party that would give you a ticket for the Elections is also not right. To lead you must have the heart of a servant and serve. You should submit to your party structure and if it’s not working stay and get it to work and if you must break away it shouldn’t be in order to obtain some personal advantage at the detriment of the larger populace. Politicians are servants of the electorate not lords over them.

Whatever we do, we must realize that Nigeria is you, me and all of us.

Remember a song from way back while growing up…

”Love Rivers State or leave her alone

Don’t pull her down …” Its also applicable to Nigeria 🇳🇬 as a whole and individual States.

We note and acknowledge that God is the Kingmaker as no one can be anything without His say so. The heart of kings (leaders) are in His hands and He can steer. So as we discuss and prepare, we pray that God in His mercy would guide us and lead us to elect leaders that are leaders indeed.🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

  • i totally agree with you ma. it is all a question of personal pursuit and like it or hate it, politics is a game of numbers and we all must make our numbers to count by starting first …Do you have your PVC? God bless Nigeria and give us the wisdom to know that collectively we can and will make a difference over time if not now.

  • I share your view that the individual politians aspiring to public office should first have sold his/her ideas within a party structure and be subject to party discipline. We need to build strong political institutions as a platform for enduring democracy and good governance. Unless and until the parties are strong and cohesive enough to instil discipline, provide purposeful and people centered manifestos and work assiduously to make meaningful and visible impact, growth will remain stunted. Politics doesn’t have to be about the politicians. It must be much more than the actors. Nigeria and all its peoples MUST move forward!
