Workplace Ever Changing

  • The Workplace – Ever Changing – for an organization to sustain its relevance in the global space, it has to be dynamic and so also the staff that work there. New lessons to learn, old habits to be discarded. New policies to be adopted and obsolete ones discarded. That is change.
  • The only thing that is permanent in life is change. If we seek to move from our present location to another, it means we desire a change.
  • Change is important in order to survive and live. We need to free up ourselves from past failures, negative habits, fixed mindsets to take advantage of the present – that is change.
  • The workplace like the global space is changing in terms of perceptions and technology and to stay relevant, we should and must embrace change.
  • Our Personal Image (PI) is an important tool at the workplace
    • It is the impression you create in the minds of people that meet you.
    • It is a combination of
      • Attitude to work
      • Relationship with colleagues
      • Personal dress code and dress sense
      • Work ethics
    • PI determines
      • Employment potentials
      • Retention of the employment
      • Promotion
    • Useful traits of a positive PI include
      • Politeness
      • Compromise for the overall good
      • Learn from others
      • Be honest
      • Be flexible without losing your principles
      • Understand the work environment
      • Pay attention to cultural difference for guests and hosts
    • Teams are very critical in the workplace
      • Together Everyone Achieves More (T.E.A.M.)
      • Remember that the success of a team member enhances the overall success of the Team
      • Be an effective Team member
      • Be supportive of other teams members without infringing on their space
      • Be a productive team member
      • Add value to your Team
      • Listen effectively – to carry out an instruction as expected, you must listen to hear & understand
      • Understand diversity in traits and culture and the strength that comes therefrom
      • Recognise, respect and maximise  the benefit in each team member’s potentials
      • Ensure effective communication
    • When we recognise that the workplace is part of the global village that is constantly changing and that our personal image rubs off either positively or negatively based on the impression we create by our attitude among others and we also pay attention to the Team we are a part of per time, we would have positioned ourselves strategically as an asset to the organisation and a pride to our generation.
    • We don’t have to be afraid of change…let’s accept it gracefully.
